Culture is the strategy
The famous Peter Drucker more than thirty years ago said that "culture eats strategy for breakfast". This implies that the culture of your company always determines success regardless of how effective your strategy may be.
Culture eats strategy for breakfast - Peter Drucker, (1909-2005)
In fact, this quote is getting long in the foot with more than 3-4 decades of change. But was we progress well into the twenty-first century, the nature of work has changed. Work has become complex, cognitive and creative. And moved further away from the industrial era and its production line principles.
It has therefore become about the simple concept of enabling people. Enabling people to do their best work, learn what needs to be learnt to compete and bounded by single-minded customer centric practices. And as humans become the forefront of this change, it is time to modify and simply the Drucker quote.
Culture is the strategy. It is now a people game.
If you get your Culture right, everything else will line up to it.
